Description

Learn how to tan a deer hide. Students will learn tools and methods to tan a deer hide including fleshing, braining, wringing and stretching. They will produce a quality grade brain tanned, smoked deer hide. A few raw hides will be available for students to work on together and share the final product.  Students are welcome to bring in their own deer hide, or tan a deer hide on behalf of a local hunter.  Class will be held in an outdoor and/or cooler environment. Dress for cool weather, and working with animal flesh, and strenuous work. Supplies and materials, and hospitality are included in the class fee.  The class location may change to a remote site.  Must be 16 yrs old or older to participate.
