Description

Join us as we explore the gently rolling grounds of the former Woodland Hills golf course. This is a terrific place to see signs of wildlife and to cross-country ski in winter. Just down the road is the historic, one-room Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse. It’s maintained by the Lower Saucon Township Historical Society, which is having an Apple Festival the same day from 11 am to 3 pm. Docents will give tours of the one-room schoolhouse. There will be hot dogs, cider, and apple products for sale. There will be activities for children as well. So, start with our easy walk on the 148-acre Preserve, meandering on grassy paths through small groves of trees, grassy meadows, and beside idyllic ponds. Then drop in at the Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse for a step back in time. For the hike sturdy footwear is recommended. These two events are appropriate for children of all ages. Dogs on leash are welcome. Bring your walking stick or hiking poles and binoculars/camera to view autumn scenes, as well as to capture delightful details of life at a one-room schoolhouse. There is a portable toilet on site. DIRECTIONS: Take I-78 to PA -412 S, Exit 67 south. Turn left onto PA 412 for 300 feet or so. Turn left onto Cherry Lane for 0.5 mile.
