Cost: This is the only GOLV event that has a nominal fee of $15/per person to cover equipment cost.
Learn more about the coal industry, the canal locks, and life on a canal boat on the Lehigh Canal as you peddle 4 miles on the towpath to Canal Park in Allentown. Then Wildlands’ Safety Guides will fit you with PFDs (Personal Floatation Devices) and paddles as you clamber into canoes to paddle back to Sand Island in Bethlehem.
Bring a lunch, water shoes, sunscreen, a sun hat, and your sense of adventure in the “Metro-Wilderness.” This trip is appropriate for children age 10 or older. Bathrooms are available at both Sand Island and Canal Park.

DIRECTIONS: From Route 22, take Rt. 378 S to the 8th Avenue Exit (Exit 2). At end of exit ramp turn right onto 8th Avenue and travel 0.8 miles to W. Lehigh Street. Turn left onto W. Lehigh and travel 0.6 miles to Main Street. At the four-way stop sign turn right onto Main Street and go just 407 feet south to River Street. Turn right and go under two bridges (about 0.2 miles).
