Description

What birds are at Lake Galina at this time of year? What signs of spring can we see? We’ll explore the trails, vole tunnels, bird blinds, and bridges at Peace Valley Park. The North Branch of the Neshaminy Creek flows into Lake Galina here. The trails are mostly grassy and level with easy tread-way. We’ll be walking on a variety of surfaces, sometimes just a narrow path through fields. There are a few short uphill sections. At the end of the hike, we’ll enjoy the entertaining and educational Peace Valley Nature Center, too. Be sure to bring money because they have a great gift shop plus lots of nature books for young and old. The Nature Center has a fascinating display of Native American arrowheads and other tools. The walk is appropriate for children of all ages. Wear sturdy shoes and layers appropriate for the weather. Bring hiking poles or your walking stick. Bring binoculars and/or camera for the scenery. Dogs are not allowed on the grassy trails. However, there is a nearby macadam trail where dogs on leash can walk and strollers/wheelchairs are welcome. Bathrooms are in the Nature Center.
