Program Notices

  • Competitive Division – The Competitive League provides an opportunity for participants to play the game of baseball more independently than the recreational league. The goal of the league is to teach the players the fundamentals of baseball and place them in positions that will allow them to play baseball to his/her fullest potential. A modified scoring system is used to help create a more competitive feel but to ensure that each player can be a contributor to the team’s success! Players are challenged to try their best to make plays in the field and bat from a coach-pitched ball. While the goal is for players to be independent during the game, some utilize volunteer buddies to assist them during play.

Description

Foothills partners with the Miracle League of Metro Denver to offer an Adaptive Baseball League.  All games in this league are played at Jason Jennings Field, a field made from cushioned synthetic turf to help prevent injuries to players of all abilities. It features wheelchair accessible dugouts, and a completely flat surface to eliminate any barriers to wheelchair bound or visually impaired players. We believe that every child deserves a chance to play baseball.  Volunteers are available to assist players during the games.

Games are played on Saturday's for 1 hour between 9am-2pm.  The Comp and Rec Division with alternate morning/afternoon start times throughout the season.

We offer 2 divisions including:

• Recreational – Our Recreational League Pairs up each participant with a volunteer buddy. Athletes play up to their abilities and can hit off a tee or from a pitcher. If your athlete would do better with a one on one buddy this is the league for you! Volunteers will help them bat if necessary, along with run the bases with them, and engage with them in the field to play catch and have fun.?  The philosophy of the league is everyone bats, everyone scores and everyone wins in a non-competitive atmosphere.

• Competitive – The Competitive League provides an opportunity for participants to play the game of baseball more independently than the recreational league.?  The goal of the league is to teach the players the fundamentals of baseball and place them in positions that will allow them to play baseball to his/her fullest potential. A modified scoring system is used to help create a more competitive feel but to ensure that each player can be a contributor to the team’s success!?  Players are challenged to try their best to make plays in the field and bat from a coach-pitched ball.
