Fencing Class

Description

Learn Fencing from an Olympian! The class is taught by Tom Strzalkowski, a 1996 USA Olympic Team member, 3 time NCAA Individual National Champion at Penn State University, 4 time All-American while at PSU, 5 time US National Team Member, and assistant coach at Air Force Academy. Discover the exciting Olympic Sport of Fencing. This beginners program includes and introduction to the history of fencing, weapons, target areas and fencing technique. Participants should wear comfortable shoes and clothing. The use of equipment is included in the class fee. This is a Mental and Physical sport that teaches competition, respect, and self-discipline in a safe and fun environment. Classes are held 1 time per week, on Thursday evenings.

Classes are held at the Fencing Academy of Denver, 8000 S. Lincoln St., Littleton. 

Foothills Park & Recreation District COVID-19 Policy for Participation:
For the health and safety of our community members, participants, volunteers, and employees, it is a requirement for anyone participating in any Foothills class, activity, event to:

- Maintain physical distancing to a minimum of six feet from others.
- Wear a non-medical mask/face covering at all times that covers both nose and mouth.
- May be subject to a temerature check upon arrival.
- Adhere to all public health orders set forth by the State of Colorado and/or Jefferson County Public Health.
- Understand that Foothills doesn't want to turn you away, but we will if necessary.
- If you are feeling unwell at all, please call us and do not attend class.

 

These requirements may be amended at any time based on current conditions and changes issued by State or Local public health orders.   

 

Fencing Academy of Denver - Covid-19 Protocols

Fencing Academy of Denver will be following the CDC and local government guidelines for fencing classes.  Here is a list of items that will be implemented for class:

 

ALL participants and coaches are required to wash their hands before, during, and after practice.

- Hand sanitizer will be readily available for participants and coaches.

- It is recommended that parents/guardians DO NOT wait at FAD during practice times.

- Parents that wish to wait inside the building during class will be required to wear a cloth face mask.

- Fencers and coaches are encouraged to wear a face mask right up until the start of class and put it back on right after class ends.  

- Everyone should bring their water bottle filled up from home.  

- All counter surfaces, door handles, light switches, faucets, and reels for electric fencing at the gym will be wiped down and disinfected numberous times daily.

- Doors and windows will be opened (weather permitting) for increased ventilation.

ALL PARTICIPANTS, COACHES, STAFF, PARENTS, AND GUARDIANS MUST STAY HOME IF YOU ARE COUGHING, SNEEZING, HAVE A FEVER, OR ARE DISPLAYING ANY SIGNS OR SYMPTOMS OF A RESPIRATORY INFECTION.
